Imperial Kagoshima Batch 004 brings the bold, sun-rich character of southern Japan to our Imperial collection. Sourced from Kagoshima and blended from four complementary cultivars -- Yutakamidori, Yabukita, Saemidori, and Asatsuyu -- it was processed and refined by our partner producer in Fukuoka using 100% first-flush, stone-milled tencha.

This matcha is one of our founder, Axel's, current favorites and boasts one of the most unique flavor profiles we've seen recently. Both savory and sweet, it's fired yame style with strong nutty notes, and features the most surprisingly delicious flavor note we've seen in past years: buttered popcorn -- trust us here! If you're looking for something objectively delicious yet slightly off the beaten path, you will undoubtedly love this.

I’ve tried quite a few matchas, and this one is seriously so good. It has such a smooth, fresh flavor without being overly bitter or grassy, and it makes the perfect creamy iced matcha at home. You can really taste the quality, and it’s become something I genuinely look forward to making every morning. I’ll definitely be keeping this stocked!

An incredibly unique and flavorful matcha

One of the most interesting matchas I’ve tried, with a smooth, rich mouthfeel and a perfect balance of savory umami and natural sweetness. It has very little bitterness or astringency, plus a distinctive nutty, almost creamy character.

The bold flavor holds up beautifully in a latte, while the long, slightly sweet roasted-nut finish makes it enjoyable on its own. If you love matcha with body, umami, and complexity, this is absolutely one I’m recommending and will be buying again.
